Do you have homeowners or healthcare insurance?
Since you drive, you must have car insurance as well.
Are you concerned that all insurance companies won't pay your claims either or is it just LTC policies you don't trust?

One of my other neighbors was diagnosed with early stage dementia at age 54.
His wife did exactly what you mentioned in regards to meeting with attorneys and separating their funds.
It got to the point she couldn't care for him any longer. He was in a care facility for 7 1/2 years before he passed away. It would have drained his wife financially to pay for his care.
