They are in the preliminary permit application process now. As I understand it, this is the phase where FERC collects info from the public to take into their talks with AEA re: the studies that will need doing. As you will see, they have alotted two years to carry out those studies, which given the scope and depth of what is warranted is ridiculous.

Re: anad. fish passage, what is considered significant. I would argue any and all salmon above the dam site are significant and have value. How many return where in the upper river is not well understood, but the 1980's studies did find both sockeye and king smolt in tributaries well above the proposed site and the "old timers" around here all tell stories about kings in the upper river.

The coalition any quite a few other NGO's have filed petitions to intervene.
