Nit wits are a pain. I launched at Twanoh & when I came back, a wind had wiped up the canal a bit. There was about a 14 ft alum boat sideways across the ramp taking on water with about a 12 yr. old boy bailing like crazy as the waves came over the side. A guy in his mid '40s was holding the bow line and watching the kid. An older guy was just watching. I asked why they didn't get the kid out of the boat & one of the guys wade out to swing the bow into the wind so it wouldn't take on water and bail it out 'cause the kid was losing the battle. The guys both just looked at me and said 'we don't have boots and don't want to get wet'. I said that I'd help them get things squared away, get their boat out of the water but both of them were getting wet. If they didn't want my help then I was backing my trailer down and pushing their boat out of the way so I could get mine out. They got the idea and got wet. The only thing they did right was to have the kid wear a life jacket.
