It takes a lot of time and money to soup up things that were never intended to go fast or race in the first place. I never have and still don't understand it. It makes so much more sense to start with something that is intended to go fast, and then soup that up some more if it's feasible. I guess I was born to make sense.

I was visiting with a fellow last weekend who races a souped up Harley Davidson. I explained my lack of understanding. He explained that the purpose is to make whatever - the Harley in his case - go as fast as possible within the constraints of the original design. So, I'm left thinking, OK, but why the h3ll would someone want to do that, when there are motorcycles that are specifically designed to go fast enough to make that Harley look like it's standing still? Conclusion: we don't understand each other.
