I fished the Toutle in October below the mouth of the Green and it did not have enough water to float a drift boat. Visibility was very low (2 or 3 inches) as the river still carries lots of Mt. Saint Helens ash in suspension. The raparian zone was like a moonscape with blowoff stumps and gray ash everywhere. During the time I fished it most all of the rivers were at their lowest levels of the year, so perhaps it would be passable now. I didn't see many launch sites although I didn't explore all that much. The Toutle was very good to me with limits of cohos each time I fished it. It was the first time I fished the Toutle since the mountain blew, and it's good to see strong numbers of fish returning. Let me know how you do if you float it.
