Eric and others:

I could see a problem with WDFW and keeping access sites open, back in the early 80's.....there is a area on the Humptulips that is/was called Goughnors Bar.......between the hatchery and Reynvaan's. The land owners wanted to sell the access to the gravel bar.....WDFW didn't want to "take the lead" so WDFW, Dan Guy, approached GH Chapter of TU. I was treasurer, at that time, and wrote a check for $2000.00 as a sign of good faith........negoiations went bad, so the deal was never made.

If WDFW would have gotten out of the office, I think 99 years leases could have been done at the following areas: Wynoochee River-- Carter Creek, Sheafer Creek, Middle Bar, Water in-take, Valentine's, Wilkey Hole, Gravel pit area(both sides), Twin Bridges, and now the lower tide water area.

Humptulips and the Satsop, have just as many sites/access points, that 99 year leases could have been completed and protected the public.

It's not like $$$$$$$$ wasn't available, just that public access leases, was not a major concern............now it is, for the fishing public, and it's probably to late.

More people wanta fish, same amount of river miles.......just access points are becoming fewer.......combat fishing 101 will be alive and well in Region 6. Bumper boats will be the game!!!!!!
