Cowlitz River fall chinook get $650,000 boost from Olympia

Fall chinook numbers on the Cowlitz River will more than double, thanks to an appropriation by the state Legislature.

In its second special session ending last month, the Legislature appropriated $650,000 for increasing the production of Cowlitz fall chinook.

The appropriation will result in the release of as many as 2 million more fall chinook, according to the Coastal Conservation Association, which lobbied heavily for the funding.
