The axle to axle length determines how sensitive the release is. Long ATA length bows can be shot with fingers so would be more forgiving than a short ATA bow. The string loop was invented to move the release off the bowstring when ATA's startd to get shorter. The string loop pinches the release more on the shorter bows. Even more so if you have a longer draw with a shorter bow.
