I'm getting tired of all the 'experts' who were polishing Peyton's knob all week now asking if Peyton choked, or who made a bunch of mistakes on the Broncos' side, or blah, blah, blah...

No, Peyton didn't choke...he and his much vaunted offense finally had to play a good defense, and got fuckin manhandled. There wasn't 'bad luck', there wasn't any 'choke'...they rushed the passer, made him move around, and when Peyton is forced to move around bad things happen.

As I noted many times before in this thread, when Peyton throws his usually somewhat accurate wobbly ducks over the middle of the field against marginal defenses he makes 55 passing touchdowns over the year, but when he throws wobbly ducks against our defense, they turn into interceptions.

When he has guys in his face pushing him around, he throws interceptions.

When he gets hit while he's running around back there, he fumbles.

The best thing that happened to the Broncos last night was that the 4th and 2 incompletion that Peyton threw because the ball was tipped would have been another Pick6 if it hadn't been tipped, he telegraphed it the whole way and it just missed being a 90 yard return for a TD.

There was no "perfect storm", and there sure as hell wasn't some "one in a million" game...this was a one in one game, one that happened when the things that make Peyton comfortable as a passer...poor defense, good line play, and yards after the catch...flat out DO NOT happen against our defense.

They'd do it again tomorrow...unless somehow Peyton magically became much more mobile, his line blocked our D line better, and our DB's decided not to plant receivers right where they catch the ball...and those things are pretty unlikely.

This wasn't some one off where the better team had a bad day and the other guys had an all world day...this was a game where the Broncos are not as good as the Seahawks.

The things that make their offense good do not work against the Seahawks' defense. In a head to head matchup, our defense is better than the Broncos offense. Period.

The Broncos' "worst kick coverage in the NFL" special teams cannot stop Percy Harvin, even when they try to kick it away from him...because Percy Harvin and our kick return team are better than the Broncos kicker and kick coverage team.

Everyone is talking, rightly so, about how Peyton did against our defense, but no one is mentioning that our offense also scored two TD's, which is more than the Broncos "Best Ever!" offense did...along with two field goals. Our offense is better than the Broncos defense. Period.

The Seahawks won the coin toss, and it only got worse from there for Denver...they did not do one single thing better than the Seahawks in that game.

There may not be many defenses who can do it, but if a defense can stop the one yard passes right there where they are caught then the Broncos will end up with a lot of third down plays.

If it's third and more than two, and the two yard passes are not getting more than two yards of gain, then they have to throw the ball downfield.

If they have to throw the ball downfield, and you can cover, then Peyton can't get rid of the ball in two seconds...and if it takes more than three seconds, and your D line is better than their O line, then Peyton gets pushed around in the pocket.

When Peyton gets pushed around in the pocket then the wobbly ducks are not accurate, and are instead interceptions.

When Peyton gets hit as he is throwing, then the wobbly ducks become interceptions.

When Peyton is hit before he throws, then it turns into fumbles.

Our defense is good enough to do all those things...yesterday, all season, and next year, too.

Fish on...

Todd
