$5 bunch of tulips, and a hug and a kiss. One year I made her a valentine out of construction paper and glued on about 100 candy hearts saying I love you. I think I was out about $8 on that one, got full on tears and a little action. Made dinner, as is usual.

She already knows I love her, and I show it regularly, but we don't fall into line with the manufactured holiday.

If you have to go all out to show her you love her, something is wrong.

If she doesn't appreciate a simple caring gesture, something is wrong.

If she will only be satisfied by a big production she can brag to her friends about, something is wrong.

Want to know what works? March 12th, get a sitter for the kids, show up at her work, pick her up for a surprise dinner and a movie.
