As most know, law enfocement refer to crimes with a number. The Nigerian scam is a '417'. I read a book named '417' about a woman that goes to Nigeria to find the person responsible for the fleecing of her father.
It was interesting as it explained the mechanics of the scam. Internet cafes filled with young people working on a commish sending out the emails. If they get a hit, then it's passed on to somebody up the food chain. So on until they get money or the mark won't answer emails. One smart guy at the top paying the internet bills & handling the money & keeping most of it.
I didn't realize it was so well organized.
