Lots of shades of ancient Rome in our country these days, and not the admirable ones. If what Rich G tells us doesn't scare you, that definitely should. Raping children was popular among the Roman elite. I think the question of how far we are from legalizing and even celebrating pedophilia is a pertinent one to start asking at this point.

When does it stop? I'm a fairly liberal person in most respects, but the importance being placed on these issues by our government really concerns me. (I think they're doing this to keep our minds off topics they SHOULD be addressing and aren't but that's for a different thread.)

A democracy is supposed to work in the interest of the majority. There's a growing number of people who have completely lost their identity. That's sad, but it doesn't mean the rest of us (the vast majority) should be forced to live like we have lost ours.

When you claim to stand for everything, you truly stand for nothing. We're getting dangerously close, IMO.
