The thing is you never admit anything. Thats why you say your fishing for trout. Any given person can be a gamer out there, and they are sneaky. I'm not the smartest man in the world and don't pretend to be, but catch and release is legal. And it's simple if you are fishing a vibrex spinner for trout "which works for trout too" and the river is full of silvers your going to have a hard time selling that to the judge. But something universal like areo fly's, Dic knites, Rags"go to stealhead solution theirs are good I hear" or something esle. These guys aren't the bad people just keep that in mind. If you show respect and don't bad mouth them than I would say they wouldn't write ya up. They can't afford and won't write people up, if the charge won't stick.
