I have received a few email from people concerned that the 1143 isn't strong enough to handle big fish.... well

Just thought I would throw this in... here's a poplular clinet with a large C&R Steelhead caught on a GL3 ST 1143S that we built for him. If it will handle this it will handle anything.....

Os, before you buy an 1143 from a store, talk to TH. He recently built a sweet Loomis fly rod for me -- saved about 20% off retail and it came with all the guarantees.

The 1143 is strong enough!!I have landed Kings in the 30 to 40# range...You cant horse them but you can land them easy enough.Landed a 22.5# steelie on the nooch last year and I even horsed him a bit.If you feel the 1143 isnt strong enough you HAVENT fished one much.TM

My top three choices:

1. 1025 GL3
2. 1025 GL3
3. 1025 GL3

If there's any confusion about my opinion, please ask away!!!!

Todd.

P.S. I've broken two rods in the last month, and now I'm on backup #2, which happens to be a 1000 series Lamiglas. I like it a lot, too, and it's half the price of the GL3, but is a world away in sensitivity in my book.

I use only 3 diffrent rods depending upon river flows and the size of the fish. They are all 9 1/2 foot, ST1141 is for 8# ,XSH1142L Lamiglass great 10#,ST1143 nice 12# they are fitted with reels that hold between 150 to 200 yds respective line

You guys should expand your vocab. The new Techna AV by Fenwick is one bad@#* rod. Its much lighter than any loomis or lamiglass rod. Sensitivity is unreal! If youre comparing Lamiglass and Loomis, it has to be Loomis hands down. Lamiglass rods come back broken more than any other brand (I work at a fishing and hunting store). Stradic for spinning and a calcutta for casting. Curado's are nice if you prefer the low profile. Just my two cents.
