I also would be interested in one like your talking about. I have one on a 2 1/2 gallon tank and one that runs on the small tanks, but both get in the way when the fishon drill happens, you know row out of the current, turn off heaters, clear heaters out of the way of the person with the huge grin and a fish on the other end of their line.

I use the small bottle with a Mr. Heater under the deck and have been pretty happy with it. It heats well for a single burner and the size allows for a simple light weight setup. I find that I am able to stay warm enough rowing without a heater so it ends up working out well. The only problem occurs when people in the front have to stand up and fight a fish. The trick is to get the heater shut off and out of the way. If you can turn it off, you can spin the small bottle of propane and heater around. That way it doesn't fry the deck of your boat. It just all depends on how it goes. I saw my wife stand up in the braces and put her pant leg against the heater grill once. She was on fire shortly thereafter. After putting her out I realized she was more concerned about the fish than the fire situation. I think I married the right girl.

Try calling Bob or Mike at (360)374-3148 they have built a couple that work great. Its a forced air set-up with a fan and an opening under the front deck. You keep your propane tank behind the rowers seat, gas lines go under the floorboards. The fan runs off a motorcycle battery. It is by far the best heater system I've ever seen in a driftboat.
