Thinking about floating the Green River this coming Saturday. Just wondering if anyone has done the Whitney Bridge to Hwy 18 float this season. It has been about 3 years since I floated it and we had to pull the boat around 3 "MAJOR" log jams. Dan

Dan,
I haven't floated the green but I did walk down and check out the MAJOR log jam below the hwy 18 bridge. If you haven't seen it yet, just walk in at the Railroad Crossing and head downstream from the hard bend in the river. This jam is nothing short of awesome and definitely completely blocks passage. Do Not try to float downstream of the highway 18 bridge or you will be dragging your boat back upstream.

Grumpyr is absolutely correct about the BIG log jam below HWY 18. Although the float from Metzler to HWY 18 is OK. About two weeks ago they pulled out a 20lb hatchery out of Metzler park hole where the tribal hatchery creek flows into the green. Also I have been hearing of some fish being caught just above HWY 18 bridge. I think the only thing you will have to contend with is some low clear water. If we get to much rain there is a old mud slide from last winter somewhere between Metzler and HWY 18 that will flow a little mud into the water, but that only if we get a lot of rain. Let me know how you do if you fish it.

Bring your own water if its still flowing at 300-400. had to drag drag drag and drag. There are four slides that out mud into the river one below flamin and three below metzlers. There are a couple of jams but ya can get around them not like when the log came across last year.

Tight lines

Thanks for the info. I think I will wait for a little more water to come in, or should I say be let out of the damn.
