Saukit: nice combo huh.love mine too. I opted for the 5:1 because,in my oponion too fast a retreive is counterproductive on trying to get leverage on a fish,if he runs at you great,But for some reason all mine what nothing to do with me and my calcutta is a 5:1 also so it feels simular...Os

sorry guys couldn't make it. was almost out the drive way to hit a little zipper for the day and got called to work!!! was sapose to have a long weakend but thats how things go. ended up working a little O.T.
Simpson Tacoma Kraft is getting their power cut way back as of Jan 1. they are bringing in Temp power generators. these things are huge. they will burn something like 2,700 gallons of diesel in a day!!!! Tacom power doesn't have enough power to go around so they are going to start swinging the ax. I had to help biuld hangers for the trays that will hold the power cables from these generators.
I don't know if I will get to do much fishing the next few weeks. we are getting to be bizzy at work with several shut downs. maybe alot of O.T.
good luck to all

Nope.....either vintage Ambassadeurs or Calcuttas. Too much plastic in the newer reels and parts for Ambassadeurs can still be found here in the Portland area. I recently restored a pair of 5000's that I would put against any reel out there. Sure you can still backlash but the all metal construction of the ABU can't be beat. As far as new reels go the matchless workmanship that can be found in the Calcuttas sold me. The parts have no slop in them and you cna adjust the casting weights to your liking. Anyway just my opinion.

Ready? Citica is a more durable reel than the Curado. Both pale in comparison to the chronarch!
Merry X-mas, And Osprey I had a Curado 5-1 reel in bacK
