Looking at my bucket list and I am not getting any younger. Looking to take the financial hit and fish in one of these locations. I have fished the Kenai/ Kasilof 5 years ago. Any first hand knowledge would be appreciated. Alaska or Rivers inlet area.
Interested in Chinook.

If money was not an option, I would go to Langara. Made one trip but it was the trip of a life time. We were given a boat for every two people, with the option of a guide. We fished alone and mostly motor mooched with Knuckle busters. When the flood tide came in, the depth finder would go black with kings. At one point I had a mid 30's chasing my bait around the boat. The smallest we kept was in the mid 20's and our largest was in the mid 40's. One over 50 lb was caught that week. We went on a cancellation trip and paid half price and even that was a bit spendy. It was supposed to be out of the peak but it was incredible fishing. In between tides it slowed down some so we chased lings from 10 to 20 lbs. A few people got into halibut, but we could not find them.

The lodge and food was incredible. We got to fish how we wanted to. No trolling with the guide baiting the hook and setting it.

I was given a trip to Waterfall on POW Island for fathers day back in 2012. Never done anything like that before. Amazing fishing and experience. Been three more time since then. For this old geezer I welcome the chance to have a guide and a sturdy boat. This year went to the Kenai area and fished the Kenai, the Kasiloff, and a flyout trip to Crescent Lake up in Lake Clark National Park. We had a brownie that "adopted" us for the day, kept us on our toes. The fishing on the Kenai seemed like was not great (catching) no bait this year. Went back to the Kenai the next day as the Reds were running hard. Borrowed gear from our lodge and did quit well. Fished the Kasiloff on our last day, fishing was also real slow. We stayed at the Kasiloff River Lodge, it was great and excellent food! It was a great trip because I was with my 2 sons and 2 grandsons and another friend.

All that said, go to SEAK to catch fish. Most of those places will put you on the fish.

ANother vote for Langara, went there in 1986 and it was the trip of a lifetime, kings averaged 35#, whales and puffins abounded, food was great (Langara Island Lodge).
And the cost for me and the wife for 5 days was only $2200 Canadian!! There were 5 staff and 4 guests, one of whom was Tony Pletcher, Canadian fisheries expert. He taught me how to mooch with 9 foot 12# leader, 2 3/0 hooks and a big rubber snubber, he would put a dab of epoxy on the hook at the little gap where the eye comes around to prevent break-offs. His best was a 42# pig---pretty good result on 17# main line and 12# leader!
