Does anyone have one of those new calcutta te reel, or the diawa millionaire cv253a for 229.00, the new calcutta is 299.00 at bass pro,I buying one of them, my shimano curado is 8yrs old and going strong but i want a new one for steelhead drifting and spoon fishing for those big slabs. ps. reiter put out some fish sun.

Specifically which Calcutta are you looking for should be able to get you a better deal...let me know...would have to be tomorrow or wait until new year for me.

calcutta came out with two new reels,the te and one other that looks almost like it. one has 11 bearings and the other has 7 bearings. i'm planning on buying the 11 bearing one.the gear ratio is 5 to 1,they have both of them at sportco.

You might check out the line capacity of the GT(11 bearing model), it is a little small for steelheading. The orginal boxes for the GT has/had bad information litsed on them regarding line capacity. The TE(6 bearing model) has a little bit bigger capacity, and is very smooth.
