Not good! Along w/ salmon and lots of other issues, it may be contributing to the Pacific Cod collapse:
https://www.knkx.org/post/gulf-alaska-cod-are-disappearing-blame-blob

But on another note, the "Sablefish" or Black Cod could be filling the void.

"Itís enormous, stretching from southern California all the way to Alaska. When the first blob formed in 2014, whales started to feed in nearshore waters and got entangled in fishing gear. Thousands of young sea lions stranded themselves on beaches. A huge harmful algal bloom formed, contaminating shellfish. Multiple fishery disasters were declared."

Hey Francis,

Your article is posted by the UW college of the environment on 11.02.2019. But it is a repost of this article posted on October 14th with data from September 2019.
https://environment.uw.edu/news/2019/10/...o-say-about-it/

Large Edwards post by Cliff Mass is more current and more relative. No need to alarm the lemmings around here with old news that is no longer accurate. But it might be too late for the 1700 folks who already read your post and assumed that it was up to date current information.

Eli

This might be another look at what the blob might be doing out in the Pacific:

https://q13fox.com/2020/01/15/a-blob-of-...scientists-say/

Not mentioned but has there been any research on what effects the Fukushima radiation release may have had on the microscopic organisms in the central Pacific? The currents would have taken the radiation in the direction where the blob formed and it did happen after the release. Could this possibly be a cause of the poor return rates recently?

Blob activity should have diminished a bit with the last two storm systems out there to stir up surface temps.
