I don't understand it. Why do you guys say that every year is a bust. One hook-up per time is good for me. It's called fishing not catching. How many times do you guys have to hook up before you can land a fish? I can remember fishing for two years before catching my first fish. Catching a steelhead is like getting a trophy. As for people not having any luck all I can say is that there are fish out there. The last fishing trip I was on I got two hook ups out of two days of fishing and landed both fish both 33 inches long.

Everything is relative. A few years ago, I would have agreed with you. However, depending upon where I fish, now I have different standards. There are some rivers I fish, if I don't get 2-4 good hook-ups in a day I consider it slow (great is 8-12 for me, more for the boat). Other rivers and times, one fish for the boat is a decent day. I used to fish for Steelhead 40-50 days each winter, now I live in Eastern WA, I'm married and have two kids. I'm lucky if I get out 10-12 days each winter. Every day is good, some are great for catching. Stick with it, hire a good guide when you can come up with the money (even if you should'nt spend the money) it will make you a better fisherman.
Good luck.

I gues im just spoiled. I live out in Forks and fish about four days a week. I know where the fish are and if Im only getting one hook up a day thats not very good. But today I did better I hooked five and landed three but two of them were summerruns so I gues they dont count. One of the fish I hooked was a hog but it went through a double rapid and broke me off.

Even with a few good days it is still very slow out here. Most out of towners I have talked too arnt getting any fish at all.
