First ever steelhead was in 1977.... Butch's Hole, Ninilchik River AK, caught incidentally while targeting kings. Caught driftfishing a GOBSTOPPER sized Okie Drifter that I personally tied after first learning how to snell a hook. It was a 38" bright downrunner wild hen that I was prepared to release. Got bullied into keeping it by a bunch of ol'duffers on the bank.

First WA steel was in 1984... Puyallup River, right under the Meridian Bridge, driftfishing a GOBSTOPPER sized Corkie and yarn.

Most recent steelhead was last Friday...
