The Arolik is one of my favorite rivers in A.K.. I have had the pleasure of guiding the river for the last four years, with Alaska West. We are the only permitted commercial opperation on the river. We are in partnership with K.R.S.I. and the Coastal Villages Resource Fund. We run two jet boats on the river from June 15 to september 1, from the mouth of the river to the gold mine above Snow gulch. The river is a fantastic rainbow stream. Floating the river can be a frustrating afair especialy in the first few miles of the float. If the water is low, you will be forced to drag your raft for at least 2 of the days. The Natives in Quinhagak are very sensitive about the use of this river, as it is a traditional hunting area. Stay below high water marks and you should be fine. Lots of bears in the area. Freshwater adventures and Papa Bear fly groups into lake Arolik and from their you float down the river. The only problem is aranging a pickup at the mouth of the river. The whole lower river is on private property, so arranging a shuttle from the river to Quinhagak can be a little complicated if not expensive.
