And it probably will. It's coming to a city near you. It may already be there. I just love America don't you? Thank god the Donald has made it great again.

"This growing tech hub has seen an influx of engineers moving from San Francisco and the Bay Area around it in search of affordability" same thing happened on the central coast. It's really expensive here. There are too many people.

A growing number of people are being displaced as costs go up in this region, but it isn’t the primary part of the problem. The people being displaced are the ones you don’t see and are couch surfing, living with family members, in shelters, etc. the people on the streets are the habitual drug users and people with mental illness who all are refusing treatment. This region has big hearts and small brains and continue to allow and enable and do nothing to fix the problem. It’s another excuse to gain funding and money from taxpayers. Enabling homelessness is a lucrative business.

I was just illustrating a point. Why are there so many more homeless encampments? Are there that many more homeless? Why? I know a lot of people who lost their homes and businesses a few years back. Hard working honest people. Let's all tune in to the Kardashians woot!

And some of those displaced people are on the streets. They aren't all mentally ill or on drugs, though many are.

They're coming in from out-of-state. They get booted from Arkansas or wherever they're from and come here. The weather is nicer and our laws (or lack of enforcement) allows for and actively encourages it. Our politicians actively encourage it because we vote for it to display our virtue and "wokeness". Why go to jail for your smack in Ohio, when you can safely shoot up in Seattle or San Fran without fear of reprisal?

Most of the ones you see on the street are either addicted, mental or just plain real bums. The ones that have been displaced from income or job loss usually are back into some type of housing rather quick (figuratively speaking). Those are the sober ones that still have some pride and ambition to fix their situation and usually actively try to do so.

Further, you can't commit anyone against their will and haven't been able to since Reagan was president. You can't get em' off the streets even if you wanted to.

Lastly, this is our fault not theirs. To certain extents, "compassion" becomes "weakness" and weakness gets taken advantage of. It used to be that being "hard" or "soft" was a choice when dealing with the homeless. Since we've removed "hard" from the equation, the population has boomed because we can only be "soft" by default.

This has nothing to do with Donald Trump. It's 100% owned by Democrats. When was the last time a Repub ran Cali, Or & WA? Who exactly passed our laws like safe injection sites? Who's made the choice to stop enforcing certain local laws which by default encourage and create homelessness? It wasn't Trump. It was virtuous, bleeding heart liberals in an attempt to score "woke" points with family & friends. It's not helping and its actively making the situation worse. Did you listen to Jenny Durkin's talk about the Corona Virus in Seattle? She mentioned nothing of the normal citizen or tax payer. Her only concern was for the "less fortunate". There would be less of those "less fortunate" if it wasn't for politicians exactly like her. It's not compassion. It's madness and it's going to result in a lot of dead on the sidewalks.

If anything, the homeless would disgust Trump and he'd lock em up outta sight, outta mind if he could. That's not the right solution either.

There has to be balance between "hard" and "soft". There is no balance any longer and hence the problem.

To be real, most of us, if we lost our job and housing, would consider moving out of the most expensive place in the region, and try to find a place to live else where. If you are living on the streets it should be easy to assume the following. 1. You do not have a good job that you need to be near. and 2. You do not have family and friends that you need to be near or you would be living with them.

My guess is the drive to be in Seattle has more to do with the access to drugs and freebies.

From the looks of this virus thing, I wouldn't be surprised if only 10% homeless lived the next 3 months. Similar to how Cali forests are actively managed by not managing anything at all. Mother nature has ways to start fires and clear undergrowth. Either we take care of it or she will.

Once this thing hits the homeless pop of LA, San Fran, Seattle, Portland and elsewhere here on the coast, it's over.
