I've had my Redington Sonic Pro Zip waders a good 5 years now, maybe more - and have been pretty satisfied with them. Lots of hard hiking on them. But it seems like some water is seeping through now and likely time to replace them.

I see they retail for $499 now - and there are also Redington Escape Zip waders for $299. Anyone tried those or compared the two? From what I can tell, the only difference are the Sonic Pros have 4 layer top and bottom, and the Escapes are 3 layer top, 4 layer bottom. And only 3 mm for the booties....while the booties are 3.5 mm for the Sonics (including 4 mm on the bottom).

Just curious if anyone has tried the Escapes....

I've been using Sonic Pro zip front for about 5 years also. They began leaking a year or so ago - I thought it was the zipper at the bottom, but it was the fabric near the bottom of the zipper. I patched it with Aqua Seal, along with a hole I punched through a lower leg, and they have been perfectly fine since. I wouldn't think about replacing until the fabric gives out and starts seeping through in numerous places. If that's what yours are doing, then yes, I guess replacement time has come. I know nothing about the Escape wader line.

SO FAR I am happy with my zippered waders from Dryft. I put them through some paces last season. But not hard like I will at some point. It's nice to pee easily in a bush!

I have the non-zippered Dryfts and also have like them so far. I've put a few hard miles on them but I will have a better idea after this Spring and Summer.

I have had my Redington Zonic Pro Zip waders around 5 years also. Just picked up new Redington Zonic Pro Zip waders earlier this month for $300 on Amzn. Just got to keep your eye out for good deal. They have them for around the 340 range now.
