picked this up last Wed, Ruger Precision Rimfire .22 LR..

at first after some reading on the NRL22 league and competition pages, a lot of people said that these were hit and miss, some shoot good, others not good at all.. i originally wanted a CZ 457, but you cant find one in stock, the only one i found in stock was a 16 inch barreled AT ONE version for nearly 700 dollars, and i didnt want that...

shipments will have you waiting up to 8 weeks to get one, and i didnt feel like giving my money up for that long..

so i did a little more reading, and since these are based similarly to the 10/22, i started looking at barrels, and sure enough, you can find great ones for 200 and under, including the same company of the one on my 10/22..

took it to the range Saturday (had to go to Tacoma Sportsmans, the base isnt allowing civillians to shoot right now) sighted it in at 50, and started doing some testing... all ammo shot fairly well, some a little better than others, but all pretty much the same... ran CCI standard, CCI mini mag, Aquila pistol match, Aguila rifle match, Aguila Super Extra, RWS target, RWS match, Winchester Wildcat, Federal premium, and even some [Bleeeeep!] Remington Golden Bullet (that it didnt like, and most have said the exact same thing...

then, i decided to run it to 200... at first i couldnt see where the bullet was hitting or if it was even close (6x6 steel plate), so i found an indent in the light tan burm and started firing at that, first shot was about 6 feet low, so i did the ol kentucky windage and figured it out, then went back down to the plate, and after a couple rounds, was drilling it consistantly (not alot of power at that range, but you could see the plate move), then all of a sudden a shot would go right, and i thought it might have been the ammo, nope, it was the wind, used the dots, moved over a bit, smack... then there was a couple that hit low, again, 10 mph head wind, went a tad higher, smack...

the scope is a cheapy 100 dollar scope i got from the gun show last year, and honestly, its perfect for this, i would rather have exposed turrets (these are capped target turrets), but if i need to ill get another one at a later time.. bottom rail is a Mlock Magpul aluminum rail, bipod is a UTG Super Duty, which is surprisingly durable and strong...

all in all, im really happy and glad i went this route, everything fits perfect, and can be changed on a whim for other shooters of different sizes...

its been tough finding ammo anywhere, so i havent been shooting the AR or the 6.5 that much, been saving that ammo... but honestly, it was the most fun i have had in a long time at a gun range... i shot probably 400 rounds for under 20 bucks, which 60 rounds out of the 6.5 would have cost me 120+..

at 200 yards, the difference in velocities is insane, nearly double the drop on some brands vs high velocity like Remington Viper, and the Wildcat ammo...

was going to go with the CZ because of the interchangeable barrel system from .22 to .22 mag, to ..17, but id actually just rather get 3 of these instead...

fun stuff..

Can't get Caddy's up on cinder blocks in the front yard without a little bit of grass drivin'.

Remington Goldens are straight ass. I'll never buy another box. FTF's on every other round out of a gun that's never once had a FTF since the 50's. Has cost me a couple of yard & garden pesky critter trophies, including a booner cottontail that's developed a hankerin' for my peas and beans. I'll get you yet Bugs! foul
