My nephew and his wife and 2 kids all have just recovered after 4 weeks of covid. My other nephew who was staying with them has been in the hospital for 10 days fighting blood clots in his lungs from covid.
Just finished a necessary 3,500-mile road trip and some areas EVERYONE is wearing a mask and in others NO ONE is wearing a mask. Makes me think mask wearing is more of a regional issue than a Conservative/Liberal or Repub/Democrat issue.
We wore masks and more importantly limited our contact with people while on the road. I think masks can help eliminate a certain percentage of viral spread BUT can also create a FALSE sense of security - they're not a magic shield. Sorry to hear about your nephew too and well wishes! As you know, BC's in the lungs is bad news, so I hope he pulls through ok without any long term effects or further complications. Hang in there 2.0. Wear a mask people!

I know one person who likely had it, and no one who was confirmed. The one who was sick was really bad but ok now.

I was in a hardware store in rural Eastern Wa last week when an employee walked up to check the guy out infront of me and for some reason Covid came up, well, employee was triggered and went off on a tirade about how Covid was not real and he wishes somebody would hurry up and die in the town so we can give legitimacy to this for once and for all....lol Of course, I replied from 2 people back in line to STFU, and that I know two people who have had it....all I got was a blank stare, and " sorry bro"

A friend that's 45 has recovered, if you can call it that.
She now uses supplemental oxygen to get through the day. Dr said it may get better, but you'll probably need oxygen on hand for the rest of your life due to the lung damage.
Another friend's wife died.
I was at Walmart during the old codger's hours this morning.
And here comes this family of obese waddlers going the wrong way down the isle towards me.
The mom decides she needs to pull her mask down so she can have a coughing fit.
I spun around and went the other way.

Walmart early in the morning is typically pretty safe. The average Walmart shopper has no clue that there's a 6am time.
After about 10 am they wander in wearing their pajamas.
