There's a whole lot of people on both sides of the political spectrum with confirmation bias and the almighty dollar keeps driving the both sides further apart and into their respective echo chambers.

Salmo was right about why Fox News is the leader in cable news. Among the major players there's one of them and several of the "other guys" to spread out the viewership.

Reefer - you're wrong with your summation of Fox News viewership just as much as people who say MSNBC watchers are triggered snowflakes with TDS. But then you knew that... Wacko's gonna be wacko's no matter their political leanings and there's plenty on each side.

To the earlier question of why people vote for Trump there are many varied reasons and you can't paint the Trump voter with broad brushes. Abortion, personal freedom, economy, shake up the political status quo, conservative values, reigning in government overreach, etc. etc. Trump serves a political/policy purpose for many who cannot stand his character. The evangelical/conservative component of his base are very much at odds with trumps character but voted not FOR Trump but THROUGH him FOR Gorsuch, Barrett, and the nearly 300 other judges he's put on the bench. Then there's the wackos who love him for his FU, burn it all down attitude and see that as validation for their own wacked out sh|t. Two very different kind of people. He's either a brilliant strategist in his quest for power or just dumb-lucked into enough disparate segments to put together enough of a "base" to win or be competitive for the presidency. Mis-labeling or trying to ascribe false motivations to Trump voters isn't a smart political move as Hillary found out with her basket of deplorables.

I vote "dumb-lucked" as I'm no genius, but I've flushed smarter than him.

Thank you for taking the time to lay that out, I suspect that I suspected all of that and even may have a bit of understanding for it..... I just don't see him as believing in any of that, I see him as a you can fool some of the people all of the time kind of guy, yet I still get stuck trying to figure out how anyone can't see it, or worse, would be that willing to cut off their own nose to spite their face...
Oh well, just a couple few more days somebody gets to drift fish a imperfect run on the river of tears.

Should it really matter if Trump believes in what he has accomplished.

It seems to me that if a person were to appreciate what he has accomplished yet would vote against him because he is a jerk then that person would be biting his nose to spite his face. But then, this is not where to come in the search of knowledge.

So if a person is incredibly bad, but does something that benefits you, you'll support them?

There is some history you should review.

Assuming a person is a republican at heart, it's entertaining at best. You value certain things in life and for the most part it leads you to that political party. If that political party is what you believe in and see as right for your world then you tend to vote that way. Then you put the leader of that party in play, Mr. Trump. He's certainly one nut job that is reasonably street smart but has the worst personality and lacks a significant amount of intelligence. To say the least, his mouth has backed him into a corner...

Then you look at the party that you don't agree with as much and the basic beliefs they hold and you have to choose to vote for that party in spite of the man that leads the party you believe in. I don't see America by way of population doing that enough to change the leadership of this country. I think there's a ton of talk but when it comes to checking the box, the selfish values will prevail. I think there's a few on this board that talk the talk but will check the trump box before they send their ballot in. The closet Trump voter.

Todd, Parker, Dan and Illahee need to come clean... rofl

Just my opinion on it... 2cents

Good explanation OceanSun. If a person is a died-in-the-wool conservative, they're gonna' vote for the despicable Trump. That in and of itself doesn't make them a "deplorable." But it sure looks like taking a step closer to that edge.

I think that we all have certain bedrock beliefs. Abiortion is wrong-vote Trump. Socialism is wrong-vote Trump. And so on. But, I think that same blindspot exists on the left. The left will support someone who is the left version of Trump if that is what it takes to keep "my" bedrock beliefs in place.

I have had this conversation with some friends and their current excuse is that nobody on the left would ever "be that bad".

So who on the left do you think is as bad as Trump?
I'll make it even easier, name a current political figure that's worse than Trump.

Name another politician that calls anyone who doesn’t agree with them names and/or fires them?

I would say Joe and Kamala are just as bad. Joe has an extensive history of allegations made by women, similar to Trump. Joe has been observed being just as demeaning and insensitive to people, similar to Trump. The racial pandering towards the black community is embarrassing. “You shouldn’t vote Trump because you’re black” or “if you don’t vote for me you aren’t black enough” is sickening. It fuels the idea that you should vote a certain way because of your racial identity and fails to give credence to anything else such as beliefs (like Carcassman said) or ideas. This is racism. This sends the message that blacks aren’t capable of deciding for themselves who they think is best suited for the job.

We all will agree that we’ve seen the Republicans go too far, but there still seems to be a mindset of denial that the left hasn’t gone too far or that it isn’t even possible. I think a fair question to ask is, how do you know when the left has gone too far? There is plenty of evidence to suggest this to be true.

When trumps 2 major accomplishments are getting elected and not getting impeached it doesn't seem like a lot to hang a hat on, if making lying an art form and making mocking others a competitive sport all while defacing the character of the USA seem like accomplishments, then vote away...he's your guy.

If you buy into the fake news that he is responsible for more... I would question your knowledge on the subject and where it came from.

Good luck. thumbs

That's a bunch of Malarkey. I think the air pollution in T-town and your viewing of Faux News is impairing your judgement.

As for the ratings MSNBC and CNN combined beat Faux News.

If someone can't identify a difference between how the two candidates are behaving, I'd say they've OD'd on Fox News.

With Steamer it's more like a Fox News enema bag rupture.
I'm going to miss his "they are both the same" Fox News beer goggles required point of view.
