Pics or it didn't happen. Or you could just really suck and didn't catch anything over that 4 day period. Until we see proof otherwise, you suck.

+1 Fukk you.

You’d think those modern deer hunters, being all modern and stuff, would have some pics to post. They must suck, a lot.

I don't fish as much as I did when I was young and single, however, I get out a fair amount. Don't fish Wa as much, mostly ID/OR. Caught a nice 8lb hen steelhead yesterday that tailwalked three times and landed a discolored hatchery buck of about the same size. My previous 3 short trips were a skunk, so feels good to be catching again.....Nice Pole, Barker

I used to fish too much... After topping the 29 pound steelhead mark, my desires dropped off significantly. Except for the over-achieving tidewater summer runs. I'm known to chase a tide drop on a hot summer day.

I still get out about 30 days per year...but that's stacked into four or five day long weekends.

That stacks up neatly with about 30 hunting days, too, I guess, give or take.

Fish on...

No filter. This is where I live. Doesn't suck. There's a lot going on in this photo regarding reading striped bass water. That first wave has a trough in front of it. I hook a lot of fish in that kind of water. They crush it,sometimes at your feet, and when it's a surface plug,it's one of the great thrills of the world!

And when you can get quality fish like this 15 pound female on a swimming plug at night, that's winning!

Turbulence is what they like.

I landed over 50 fish off the beach this year before I got burned out on it.

Nice pics fellas.
Striper is on my to do list.

In a good year, I can get out about 120 days per year.
Not all day long trips, but it helps living a five minute walk to Puget Sound and short drives to other beaches after work.

Haven’t out nearly as much this year do to family health issues and trying to clean out and sell a house with Covid going on.
Beach coho sucked ass this year but there are a lot of nice searun cutts around so far this fall.

Where's the Stripper invite? What the chit Arvid!!!

I usually spend 50 - 75+ days a year in the woods all up. Maybe another 25 - 40 or so fishing & crabbing. Each year is a bit different depending on what I feel like doing. I can pretty much, within moderate reason, fish or hunt locally whenever I want.

I used to spend 100+ days only fishing not too long ago. Hunting has taken major priority now on all fronts.

I could literally do something hunting related 24/7 - 365 these days and it always used to be about fishing.

I fished Kings on the Sacremento River a few years back. We were idling through one hole and I spotted a fish in about 6-8' of water, the odd part was the fish was in the 50-60lb club imho and I thought it was a king.. Turned out it was a friggen striper! Never could get him to go on anything but I pitched the kitchen sink at him...

The fvck, Toff? This comment wasn't necessary at all - especially considering all the torment Jaek has had to deal with from me this fall.

I don't appreciate it at all.

I struggle sometimes and I don't need a reminder from you. The weed has nothing to do with it, either.

Those are 6 and 7 and a half inch plugs. The fish crush it. So fun! We get a lot of schoolie stripers here ,the larger ones are in summer, and more solitary.

I like to time my cast right behind a cresting wave. Often times they hit when the plug hits the water. Makes my heart rate go up lol.

Arvid, I remember my best day bass and bluegill fishing in a farm pond in the Sierra foothills. Using a Mepps, I probably;y C&R'd at least 100 bass; had 10 on 10 casts. Anyway, my goal was to catch a bass on a topwater plug, because that is how "real bass fishermen fish". Tied on a Hula Popper and as I prepared tp cast my Dad warned me "Be ready. They might hit right when it lands." Yeah, sure. Cast sails out, comes down near a stob and about 6" from the surface Willie Mays Bass hits it. It never got down to the pond. I missed him but did catch one later. Someday on a level wind.

I fish pretty much whenever I want these past 4 years, except for the Covid shutdown. Had a pretty poor season on summer steelhead again this year, and couldn't travel to B.C. so no Dean River hotties. The steelhead doldrums and my general malaise with WDFW management motivated me to make 3 fishing trips to Montana this year. And that could become a habit. Then came health issues with my mom, who turned 96 two weeks ago, so I haven't been fishing in almost a month now except for a cold azz day on the Cowlitz a couple weeks back. If I needed pics of fish, I'd be totally up sh!t creek. I think I took a total of 2 pictures of trout this year and no steelhead. One smallish 7# summer run was into the backing noteworthy, but no photo. Maybe I'm jaded; I've seen a few and have enough photos to help me remember what a fish looks like when I get old and senile.

Too cool. I fish every spring for white bass in Nacimiento Reservoir. In wet years I bet I could land 200 of those things in a day! Last spring I landed over 40 in a few hours, and it was slow. I know ditch pickles get a bad rap here, but I like fishing the spring spotted bass on ultralight tackle. Fun stuff!

It was an interesting pond. Cast and retrieve and it was bass. Cast, count to 10, retrieve, and get 8-10" bluegill. All evening.

One of my wishes is to go back to Land Park in Sacramento and toss some flies on my 1wt for Green Sunfish and Bluegill.

Some of my fondest memories of growing up involved crushing local warm water ponds back in the midwest. Never really needed much more than a sinple Mr. Twister grub or a small floating Rapala. Maybe some bait for dinner cats every now and again. Endless fish it seemed. Some real dandies in the mix.

Some girls and beers too and now that I think of it, the girls and beers were the best part.

I have a private golf course pond I fish rarely. A well presented weightless brush hog or berkeley chigger craw has landed bass to 6 pounds. I have a feeling there's a 10 pounder in that upper pond we fish,my friend Brian and I have hooked a couple of fish that we never saw.

I fish average 3 sessions a week; 1-3 hours per session. It’s a 10-20 minutes drive for just about every species where I live, no traffic lights the whole way. Fishing isn’t great but it’s still fun. I hooked about 8 dark coho and 3 chum yesterday in a couple hours. None were photo worthy but all kept me sane. I am very grateful to be able to fish like I do and could never live in the city and not have some convenient outdoors and peace and quiet like I do.

My fishing started in those park ponds. Handline, egg hook, and dough. We would get Greens that were 2" long. Graduated to rod and reel, flies, spinners, and such. Went trout fishing with my dad a lot, then, but went about 3-4 years, or so it seemed, between landing a fish. So, it was the sunfish that taught me fishing. Those ponds held some "big" ones too......

I have thought about “garbage fish” a lot over the years and here are my thoughts:

There are ample fishing opportunities just about everywhere except the desert. So why are so many fishermen not interested? I think it’s because we don’t all fish for the same reasons. Here are some of the types of fishermen starting with the type I am:

Fish Nerd: likes all types of fish big and small, ugly and beautiful, likes all the different and sometimes weird fisheries. Willing to just go find out what might live in that pond. A nerd and fish lover at heart

Meat Fisherman: pretty self explanatory, if there is no chance to eat, they aren’t interested. An eater at heart.

Trophy Fisherman: wants big fish and pictures of them for the office wall. A checklister and bragger at heart.

Boat Fisherman: likes their boat, will use it to catch fish but doesn’t fish unless it’s in their boat or at least by boat.

Fly Fisherman: likes romance novels, incense, ascots, wastes their time for their own reasons at their own pace.

Liar Fisherman: these types are the worst, they are more full of BS than anyone. They fish to brag and feel manly, all about ego. They will always one up you. When asked about fishing they will answer with the same question and add 5-10 on top of whatever you say. You can spot them because they will only respond to what you say, but never volunteer any information of their own. Their goal is to be better at fishing and catch more fish than anybody which is an impossible goal, they are eternally unsatisfied.

I used to fish every week when the steelhead or coho were in. Some of my favorite memories are fishing solo and being the first one on the gravel bar and catching a couple steelhats before others got there.

But a series of things happened that put a stop to most of that.

I went ass over teakettle on a muddy bank and broke my shoulder, which took months to heal. So I stopped fishing solo. Add on fewer and shorter seasons and fewer fish, I just lost motivation to get up a o'dark 30.

Now the only time I go is when I can catch a boat ride. Climbing over car sized boulders is a game for the young'ns.

p.s.

Catching ditch pickles ain't bad when they average 3 or 4 lbs with the ocaissional 9 pounder. That's backyard lake fishing in south Florida.

Project much?

Speaking of ponds.
I took a trip to Puerto Rico with the ex.
It was a business trip for her but I had to attend a bunch of the bs events as the spouse. So I didn’t pack a fishing outfit.
First morning there I take a walk out on the golf course before it opened.
First water hazard I come to I stop and look around and a nice size baby tarpon rolls in front of me. Then another.
FML.... still haven’t caught a tarpon.
To make things worse, there were 100 lbs jumping in the surf off the beach in front of the resort.
I’ll never make that mistake again!

It’s no official list. It’s not the end all list.

I posted a half assed list of the types of fisherman which is obviously not serious and obviously impossible to make and you guys pull out the psychology BS? In the next 10 minutes?

This place is getting so stupid lately. Even stupider than before.

You guys deserve Evo because any time someone tries to post something, you just dig it for the worst you can find.

May have to go to Packer and get the nuke. There is no reason to even post here anymore...

Why are you guys discussing fishing on a political insult forum.

You should find a good forum with real fishing information being posted.

I’m now convinced those 4 coho in your avatar are the only ones you have ever caught.

Better post a bunch of SLR quality staged pics proving me wrong. Maybe explain how big you are so the fish don’t appear too small.

That would help me to better respect you as a fisherman since that is what you seem to want so badly.

Maybe I’d ask for a boat ride?

I've been in a fishing slump the past year. Didn't fish for winters. Summerun and Springer fishing in Oregon sucked so I only put in 7 days. Worst Dungeness crab summer season ever 7 days. Tried beach and boat fishing for PS and HC silvers for about 14 partial days got one dink. Even went with a guide (Neal M) in MA 10 and the bite was off. One day on the Sol Duc when the salmon wouldn't cooperate. Going to go fishing for a day in Mexico next Thursday for my birthday and go after steelhead after Thanksgiving.

If you want to fish a great deal, don't live on the water.

I've lived on the water most of my life, when you first move to a new place you fish a lot, but that tapers off.

When I lived on Salt water I started fishing only when the conditions were perfect. It had to be mirror flat, no wind to be seen, plus fish chasing bait that I could see from the porch.

On the river the stars needed to line up, water, weather, the target species, etc.

The times I didn't live on the water I fish more often for a longer period of time.

Now I fish from the beach out front and carry nothing but pliers, no tackle. If I loose the one type of lure I have tied on I go home. I only use one lure in one color from the beach.

There is only a small time slot when I fish, it's about 45 minutes at sunset. This is absolutely the most productive time. And I stop at 5 fish, which may be 10 minutes.

I don't keep many fish, I haven't kept a hatchery steelhead in probably 7 years, or take pics
