I think Senator McCain is starting to circle the drain.....
He's about to auger in to the ground. Again.

Easily the best Cooger ever. Best CFB announcer, too.
 RIP, Keith.

He was the best and probably my favorite game announcer of all time. You just knew it was a big game when he was on the mic. Always the professional, never picked sides and knew the game inside and out. They don't make em' like that anymore. Now we get Herby and Joe Buck.

He was easily the best. And it isn't close.
RIP, KJ. You are the GOAT.

Seems to me that those of us who are the more chronologically gifted here have grown older having some of the best sports announcers ever. While I don't want to sound like my Dad's "You call that music?", I listened to a lot of guys who could talk rings around the current crop of mouthpieces.
The Big Game, whether World Series, Rose Bowl, NBA finals, and so on lives in our minds not only with the image but with the voice. Who saw US v. USSR hockey in '80. Bet that brings more than just a visual to mind. Can today's announcers do that?

 RIP Keith...

When I was young I talked with Keith Jackson on the phone, he had called to talk with my father, but he wasn't home. They were both sports announcers at the time. |
