I was in the fire hall at Arlington Heights last night about 6:00 and they had a report come in about a landslide into the Stilly somewhere above Oso with water beginning to back up. Assume it must have been up at C-Post. Came through there after 9:00 and no sign of any problem. Any reports?

I'm hearing the same reports - What I'm hearing is that it is at the Steelhead heaven site just downstream of Rollins Creek and C-post bridge.

This slide has been active for a long time and has blocked the river several times in the last 50 years.

I talked to a friend who was on the river this morning and it was the steelhead haven slide. Apparently some of the area residents heard it give out and knew from the sound that it was a big one. My friend said the state has people up there looking it over on the ground and from a helicopter.

I drove down the valley mid-day yesterday and the water below there is no dirtier then normal in high water. There was a helicopter working back and forth over that area, checking it out.

Just got back again

Don’t go up there if you don’t have to; there to many people just looking and getting in the way. Today the head quarter is set up at the Oso Chapel where you can view pictures of the slide

I haven’t seen a news paper or TV so if this is old news sorry

The slide came out over 600 feet for the toe of the hill; it has made about four or five channels to the south of the slide where the water is flowing now. When I left it was about 2200 cfs and going to 10,000 cfs by tonight (according To Army Corp personal). From 9:00am till noon today it had come up 4” vertical and it was raining.

Where you see the white trailer house the new channel (where the red line is) will be about 100 ft. north of it.

About the creeks; member of SIRC was up there yesterday and he told me today that there running into the slide and the slide material is like soup and that the creek on top (Rawling Creek? Red line) is much closer to the slide now. So this isn’t over yet.

Stillaguamish Tribe and Geo Engineering had placed stakes up there to measure water/slide (if it there was a slide) level but someone removed ALL there stakes from hill side and along the river. Very BAD thing to do!

Stillaguamish Tribe plan was going to happen this summer; but now the question is bigger because every thing has change a little.
