I am looking at getting a new spey rod and looking at either a 6 or 7 weight. Mainly for summer steelhead and maybe some atlantic salmon. This isnt going to be an O.P. rod.... sooo should i step up to the 7 for the little bit more versatility or get the light 6wt and have a sweet summer steelhead, Grande Ronde type rod...
any direction or thoughts would be awesome.

Might want to check out the new Snowbee XS-P Torridge 7/8 wgt 12 footer

Sweet and she can throw a long line with tips.

Few US shops have them though, Red Shed Fly Shop in Idaho has them, where I got mine.

Have you considered the CND Expert Series 1306? I have one on sale now, with or without reel, etc. (Actually I have two, but only selling one. And, no, I haven't used either). I simply do not get out enough anymore. Too sad.

Ditto KK's comments - i've tried many of the faster lightweight spey rods and they're nice. But I enjoy the progressive, moderate action of the SpeyTracker. Have already landed big Dollys and sea-runs on it, and so far have played 1 steelhead.

That fish appeared to be about 7-8lbs and the Tracker seemed to be up to the task. Didn't land it (fish threw the hook) but I'm certain it will have no problem with similar fish in the future.

One of my favorite rods - it will throw line indecent distances for such a light stick. smile

I mainly got it because i like Sage and should anything happen to it, the 100% warranty and repair are only 5 minutes from my house.
