102 on Sunday and 107 for Monday. This is some bullllllchit!
The folks that have been in my house know, but I have a large 2 story atrium / sunroom that is the center piece of the house. It's on the west side and after about 12 noon, the sun shines directly into it until twilight. It's a major heat sink and the last time it was over 100 outside, it was 127 in the house. There is no escape, save the master bedroom with window AC. My girl and dogs are all hating on me right now. So I reiterate that this is some bullllllchit! I hope all the science deniers melt down into puddles of stupidity.
The well dudes should be here mid morning. Fingers crossed that I'll have water soon.
So how ya'll going to cope with this mess? I feel for the Portland folks.

I'm going to water the garden at 6am, then get in the house and spend the rest of the day inside tomorrow and Sunday. Same with Monday, only "inside" will be at work, rather than at home.
Unusual year, the weather over here will be cooler than on the west side. At my actual house it will be warmer than Spokane though, I'm just about 1,000ft lower in elevation. The cooler weather over here has happened several times this year.
Installed a new super efficient HVAC system last August, it keeps the house cool effortlessly. These new high efficiency Mini Split systems are amazing.
We’ll be hanging here doing Puppy Dog Watching and nanny work.
The pack’s main dog trainer , feeder, and poop picker upper, will be out at Dewato running /judging a field dog trial all weekend . Aka Wife.
Much too hot for my support at the trial, so I’m home with the pack of pups. The house and dog runs are outside next to a small creek, so when itz too hot outside, the hotdogs and I all run laps in the creek to cool off, then inside to stay cool.
I’m predicting 99.9 here as the high for the weekend, and keeping fingers crossed it don’t go no higher!
Take Care out there and stay as kool as possible.
PS. I will also be crafting a proper sales pitch & price to present to Todd on behalf of my .410 pump gun he so desperately now needs!

Might hit the beach early in the morning to see if I can get a resident coho for the bbq. Big tides this weekend. -4.2’ today. That could yield some great boat launch viewing comedy. The other option is to sleep in and drink beer. I need to thin my tomato plants. Damn things look like bushes and are loving this hot stuff. Can do that in the shade of my garage. As a PNW native, I hate this [Bleeeeep!]. I’d rather rust than melt! SF

My well has been fixed on the cheap and just in the nick of time. Hooray! A bad breaker in the sub-panel was the culprit. My main panel was mis-labled and I shut off the main breaker to look at the pressure switch. I went to test the switch and got a big fookin' spark. Just about hooked myself up on that 220/240. Sonofabitch! I could kill the previous owners.
Stoney - my tomatoes, along with everyone else's are happy happy happy. They've exploded over the past 2 weeks, along with the peppers. My lettuce and spinach are not so happy, but with a fresh drink of well water, they'll be just fine.
This type of heat is actually pretty dangerous for PNW'rs. Most houses don't have AC like they do in southern climates and us pasty white MF'rs have thick cold weather blood. Not good.
Stay cool, hydrated and safe out there in this bulllllchit!

It feels pretty decadent to have AC in coastal PNW...you need it about 5-10 days per year...but it feels pretty good to have it right now. It's been blasting at my house all week...but even with that, the four rooms downstairs, half of which are at least partly below grade, are cold...three upstairs rooms are perfect, and the biggest one facing west is still too warm.
Not complaining, by any means...it will sure be a nice place to hang out on Sunday and Monday after work!

Puyallup...
its 98 here already, supposed to get to 102 today and 108 tomorrow... whats crazy about Monday is the 117 is the high, the low is 65, that is a huge temperature swing for this area... clouds better stay away or we will have another vicious lighting storm like the one a few years back...
went and shot 5 stand today, it was over 90 by 11...
no central air, just a 10K btu window unit in the dining room window... doesnt do a lot, but i can keep the house around 76-78 throughout the day so its not really that bad... its never been 110+ anything here tho so we shall see....

Per the local radio station, the recorded high for Wenatchee for the month of June is 109, set in June 2015. The same day also set new highs for the month of June at Chelan, Bridgeport, and Omak. The official temp for Wenatchee is registered at Pangborn Airport. Today it was 101, the recorded high for the day was 102 set in 2015.
State ATA trap shoot started Thursday at Walla Walla, out by the airport on an old runway. No shade..I opted not to partake.

Upper 70s here at Ocean Shores cool in the beach. Saw 2 vehicles towed when tide came in. Second one a brand new Mercedes. It was hot on the drive over until we got into town
Look forward to AC at work Monday. Failed to buy a unit last winter. It was 91 upstairs last night 99 on the deck. 82 downstairs and that's where we slept

It was 107 and I was bored, so I mowed the lawn with a push mower.
I didn't fill my pack and wear it though, I used to do that a lot, probably start doing it again now that I'm hiking more.
I also have various trees planted around the edges of my property, I carry buckets of water to them during dry times. Being as I haven't lived here all that long these trees are young and small, so need a good deal of water.

It hit 134.7 inside the house yesterday, but we weren't around to see it. Ever see cactus' die from too much heat?
We took the dogs and headed up past Skykomish yesterday to play in the river and cool down. The VERY old cocker spaniel, who doesn't like water one bit, hit the creek and just stood in the coolness and wouldn't come out. Of course the lab and golden just went crazy.
On a sad note, someone drowned very near where we were hanging out. S&R had everyone in the river. I guess a small child also went missing in the Sky somewhere down by Sultan as well. That snow melt is no joke and I wish more people understood that.
I'm glad it's starting to "cool" down a bit. This episode was just too much...

It did break my 99.9 deg. prediction here yesterday.
So, just prior to it reaching 103 here, our good luck continued and the power went out !!! So from about 3 in the afternoon until The evening no fans, no ac, no water pumps, and no crapping in the Jon with no water down the drains.
Out come the generators, 37 tangled up power cables, gas cans, fire extinguishers, and sweaty mayhem. We tried to save all contents in the freezers and reefers, in the garage and home. Followed closely with a lot of swearing, yelling at the dogs, and sweating like I just got off a plane at the Phoenix airport !
A total sux aphuc up !
Well, the powers back up, water & fans a runnin, and our ancient heat pump looks to have joined the dinosaurs with it’s total demise....
Rolling w the weather’s punches and hoping the heat wave abates a bit.
Take Care
As noted above, the last few daze have seen the swift water rescue folks way overworked here on the Green. 100 degrees, 50 thousand folks from town trying to escape the heat, with the river still running fast, we’ve had more than a few ambulances flying down the road with sirens blasting.

Spent Sat, Sun and Mon up in the hills... in the shade along the creek, it was running about 20 degrees cooler up there and mostly just pleasant, no people, no bugs and mostly no people, put on some mt miles looking for mt goats and even found a few... decided to rejoin civilization this am, along Greenwater coming down 410 the White is pretty much running mud and looking somewhere between agitated and downright angry, river rescue deserves a break, I don't expect that anybody is willingly jumping in that Lahar.

I looked in to getting heat pumps installed in my house last year or so. They wanted something more than 15K to install 2 big pumps and multiple units on both floors. I told them to go take a hike.
Do I get a mulligan?
Have two portable AC units that couldn't keep up Sunday and Monday. With the AC running, house still was in the mid 80's. Have East/West facing windows that just pull in the heat in the morning and late afternoon's and evenings. No N/S facing windows to let the flow of air move through the house.
I was in my office yesterday and it was cool enough. Not so when I go home.
Not in the office today and the house is warm, but manageable.
Put a portable in the master bedroom and one in the family room, shut the doors. The rest of the home got up quite a bit, but it was nice in cool in those two rooms. We are only a few blocks from McChord and the weather station there stated 110 as the top but it hovered between 108-109 for quite a while.

A friend of mine was east of Mt. Hood yesterday and his truck was registering from 119 to 133 degrees while driving. I know they're not as reliable as a thermometer in the shade but even if it were off 5 degrees that still would be near insanity. Heck the hottest recorded temp ever was 134.1 in 1913, back when Global warming started...

Registered 119° in my car when I left Kirkland at 4:30 yesterday to head home. My windshield cracked. Went out to have drinks and dinner to get out of the heat. House is registering 89° inside at 9:00 when I got home, so I open things up and crank the fans.... then the [Bleeeeep!] power goes out. Fun times! SF

Yesterday, the thermometer on our shady porch hit 108 degrees. The house thermostat registered 97 degrees most of the afternoon. No AC; only five fans creating convection oven conditions. When I went to get an ice cream bar from the freezer, I found only wooden sticks floating in milk and broken chocolate pieces. The carton of hard ice cream, in the freezer, had turned into super soft serve ice cream, as well. Then I checked the refrigerator side of our side by side; the temperature there was 55 degrees and rising. The afternoon and evening was spent filling coolers with almost impossible to find ice, in an effort to save a couple hundred dollars worth of perishable food. Only hours earlier the wife and I were commenting on how refrigerators/freezers always fail on the hottest day of the year...
Topped out at at 106 yesterday, with Sun. and Sat. not much less.
Wife has a small window unit in a back bedroom where she spends her days, and we have a brand new 10,000 BTU window unit in the family room. Between them, it kept the house under 75 for all but the hottest pats of the day (4-6pm).
The Skagit is in the backyard, and it's running 2-toned at the moment. The Baker is feeding in clear water, and it hangs to the north bank, while the Skagit is running high, pissed off and puking mud.

It was warm to hot all last week in Montana. Drove home yesterday, and it got steadily warmer as the morning progressed. The western WA heat wave has moved east to Montana and elsewhere I suppose. It was 103 when I got gas in St Regis, then 111 in Spokane and Ritzville, then 109 all the way to Ellensburg. It was later in the day and cooling to 87 by Cle Elum, and 72 at Snoqualmie Pass. Had the car AC on full blast all day and could not keep the car comfortably cool. That was a first. Back home in Oly and it was in the 70s. Mrs. Salmo was watering the garden and yard non-stop since last Friday. Guess I'll mow the lawn today.
Global warming is happening people! We must take action and correct our mistakes before it is too late! Trump is enabling the fossil fuel industry and we need to move forward with our Green New Deal. Let’s put an end to fossil fuels and reduce our carbon footprint today! We need to move to electric cars and not gas guzzling vehicles that people like Todd like to drive. If he cared about the environment he would join us!

Maybe a sign that the women that can never be named here, really is...
So, how hot did it get in Buckley the last few daze ?
We heard that its so hot , the forest management folks closed all of White river, Kapowsin, and Eatonville forrest access to combat this world warming in support of the greed new deal.
What more can we ask for ?
