Hey guys,

I know it has been posted before, but I thought I would post the topic again. I am looking to buy a pontoon style raft, to fish some of the smaller rivers I fish, and to float some canyon water. I have a drift boat, but want a raft to go where my drift boat can't. What is a good brand raft, for one guy, maybe two, but most of the time one? I am looking for something relatively inexpensive, but can take some white water.
Could you post approximate price, and a good place to by local(shoreline/seattle area), or a good place to order from. Thanks in advance---mike

Ok, well sorry to give you the bad news, but you won't find a quality NEW cataraft for under $1500/$1900. If you look around, you might be able to find a 14-16ft cataraft for around $1500 used with gear included. Since you want one that's good for whitewater for multiperson you will at least want to go with either an Aire package you can get at http://www.riverraiders.com or go to Skookum and check out the Steelheader at http://www.steelheader.com . If you can swing buying the tubes, you can have a frame custom built, and you can't go wrong with Osprey on here. He builds frames. But seriously, you don't want to go with an outcast, bucks (do they even have a boat over 9ft???). You'll at LEAST want a 12 ft is you want a 2 person boat. Want 3 or more I'd suggest moving up to either a 16 or 18 ft boat. You really have to decide what you want. With a cat, you get what you pay for. A wing is as good as you'll get, but you pay a premium price for it. You can get by with a low end boat, but you'll pay for it later in disfunction of the boat. Try the above websites for new or look in papers for used. Give me an email if you have anymore questions.

Yeh what he said
For 2 men 12' works good 14'is better, but it sounds like you're like me, 1 man boat, sometimes a 2 man boat,go with the 12'
2 guys on a 10' is no fun and the 12 is an awesome 1 man boat.
No seriously Kore, doing whitewater and canyons in a boat not designed for this can be a humbling if not dangerous situation,no matter how much experience you have.
drop me a line,if I can help...)Os

fishing on a cataraft is like nothing else....carefull that drift boat might be for sale soon......sold mine
