I am thinking about buying a 16' Wooldridge Alaskan outboard for fishing / duck hunting. Please let me know of experiences in these boats, positive or negative.

Thanks, Mike

P.S. yes, I know they ride rough because of the near flat bottom.

Hi Mallad I have an 18' Extra Plus, had it for 6 years now bought it new, I think there great boats and handle excellent with that patented tunnel. the only thing I would suggest to you is seriously consider going up to the 18' model its only about 2000.00 more and well worth the room and stability you'll get from the 2' more in what ever make/model you choose. See Ya, Fish.

Mallard, I owned a 16' Alaskan, it is a great boat. It runs very shallow water and fits in a lot of tight places because of its size. Easy to launch and load and tows great. Handles extremely well whether on plane or trolling. The drawbacks I found are not a lot of room inside (mine was a 1988, I don't know if the newer boats are different), shallow sides (my wife did not feel safe in the boat but it didn't bother me), with the almost flat bottom on it mine pounded in small chop (6"). All in all a great river boat.

Good luck

I have a 14 foot I bought in 1990, the boat goes absolutely anywhere. Yes it has the flat bottom but in runs in very low water
and it does not slide on corners. The sides are low but it makes it easier to climb in and out of. I am looking to upgrade and would certainly look at buying another one.
