Which seems to be more effective, A single siwash off a barrel swivel at the tail, or with a bead chain attached to the belly?
It appears the belly version would allow for more "action" from the plug, does it?
The question refers to Mag Warts used for Springers in the Columbia.

Hey Sauk and others have provided some great recommendations on this subject in past posts. You might do a search on the subject. I will mention that in recent weeks the trebles without the bead chain (standard wiggle wart) have been working fine for steelies. Good luck.

I like to rig my Mag Warts with a large 4-bead chain swivel which I attach to the belly of the Wart with a split ring. On the other end of the bead chain attach another split ring and then crimp on a 4/0 Gamakatsu siwash. This is the same setup as the pre-rigged Mag King Warts which come with a bead chain and single siwash hook right from the factory.

If you must use a treble, then you can attach it to the same bead chain or run it off the tail split ring. Obviously when running a bead chain and siwash you have to remove the factory treble from the belly and don't forget to 86 the treble on the tail. The factory trebles on Warts are not worth a damn in my opinion.

As far as the action of the plug goes, I don't think that a large plug like a Mag Wart will have any more action with a bead chain, a treble, or the factory double treble. These bad boys really dive down and work and wiggle like a 3-legged dog in heat!
