Going to do my first float trip. Thinking of the wishka river. Looking for good load in and take out spots. Also any info on condition. All emails gladly accepted. This will be our first float on pontoon boats. Any suggestions? Thanks to all who respond.

Saw it today (Fri), it's chucking mud big time. Sunday or Monday at the earliest for any chance at fish. If you want to just make a run downriver tomorrow, should be some hairy fun! Watch out for the logs...

Boy, I drove all over the peninsula looking for a little creek to fish. This is the highest I have ever seen some of them. Goodman, Kalaloch, Salmon, Stevens were all raging. In fact, the gravel bar at the mouth of Stevens was completely submerged at first light. On a good note, this high water should be a good litmus for our winter run. On a bad note, if they aren't here after this, they probably aren't coming...

Thanks for the info. Do you know spots where we can dump in at, not tied to the classic boat ramps as we can pack the boats in. I am headed out to the coast next thurs fri sat and sun. Looks like long range forecast is for more fronts pumping through next week every 24 to 36 hours. Things may stay high for a while. Ok if fish show. Thanks again!

The wishkah is too small a river for boats. Leave it at home or go elsewhere. It is definitely a bank fishery with the locals and most will become aggitated with you if you take a boat down. There are no developed put-ins or take outs.

I am a local, and have drifted it one time with my partner. take outs suck, all private property. But with a pontoon style boat, with what I have seen, could be a kick river stays in longer than most. Wishkah River indian meaning muddy water.
