anyone know when the 2nd run is in july on the russian river? is it usually the last of july or the 1st week of august.

Usually it is in August that far up. If memory serves me correctly, it peaks around the 5th. You can go to this ( http://alaskaoutdoorjournal.com/Sonar/lrussian.html ) to see the chart for that run.

First week of August is usually best, about 10-12 days after main push hits lower Kenai. You can follow the run's progress each year through our river reports page as we keep daily updates of the sonar count there

I just gotta disagree with the 1st week of August. We had 3 drift boats up there Aug. 1st. last year and most of the fish(reds) were really burnt. A few bright ones around but most were well into the spawning stages.
I would go a week earlier if possible.
Most of the boats there at that time were fishing Trout and Dollies and we were only working on the Reds. fp
