Does anyone know if there are any published studies about what & how steelhead (or any salmonid for that matter) see?
I have my own half-baked theories, but no real evidence or anything to support them.
I'd think there must be some information somewhere, but have no idea of where to look.

If you want to know about what & how fish see, then I highly recommend the book "What Fish See" by Colin Kageyama. Kageyama is an optomotrist and has done extensive research on fish eysight and the composition of the fish eye itself. Facts are shown through scientific research and an outstanding array of underwater photogrophy. Kageyama's research helps shatter the "myths" about what lures look like to the fish and why certain colors of lures work better than others. This book is not your typical easy-reading how to fishing book. Parts of it seem more like a college level biology book than a fishing book. Give this book a try which is available from http://www.amatobooks.com

Thanks, Justin.
I appreciate the tip, and will check it out.
Any well studied report will be helpful, so far what I have is only speculation, and not all that well thought out.
I need to improve my odds, and this seems like the best way to start.
Now to find a good fish psychologist.
Or a fisherman psychoanalyst.
