Noted that in a couple of weeks is the free fishing weekend. My chance to chase panfish locally, and maybe some trouts, for free.

I was paging thru the printed regulations. I have purchased a paper license. Just read the deer tagging procedure for phone holders for a print-your-own deer tag, plus the electronic tagging. Weird. I wonder where an e-license holder buys suitable weather proof tagging material? Not only that but who gets to decide if its tag worthy. Are there printed paper standards in the WACs? The old enforcement guy is coming out in me. Reminder: You must stay a thousand yards away from SRK whales, but its okay to get much closer to other ones.

Happy Memorial Day. Lets remember why we have it.

I know. WDFW has to provide a means to ID SRKWs. If they don't how can they possibly enforce it. Can you even see them well enough to ID at 1,000 yds?

This is all very interesting,, the state is a total mess and totally broke,, on the edge of disaster and then new rules that makes enforcement difficult or impossible,, has to make you wonder what their long term plan is... The general trend has always been more stupid and more phucked up and always more money spent...

On a side note I wonder if they vaccinated those SRK whales? It would explain their peril... Endangered or threatened means money in the bank and more rules/regulations to enforce,, more control over the people...

I have not gotten any licences yet,, probably will not fish around here in area 9,, only 2 days of King Salmon fishing,, boy lots of fish are going to go by,, bet lots are going by right now,, the big ones are coming through right now... Pretty soon you will have to hire a native guide to fish salmon in Puget Sound...

To piggy-back on Rich's idea of ESA listing meaning money in the bank, Bob Lackey (of EPA and OSU) has a blog post about the Salmon Recovery Industrial Complex. Essentially, our recovery actions are more about accumulating and spending money than actually accomplishing recovery. He might not be wrong.

I mean, SRKWs are starving and what don't we do? Ensure they have lots to eat. Salmomids need more spawners so what do we do? Not put more fish on the grounds.

But, we throw money at projects.

ÑOt for much longer,, the state and local governments are collapsing,, the situation is much worse than the public knows…. THe reason the public does not know is because there is no applicable solution.. 50 billion in Medicare fraud just exposed in Ohio…. if Ohio is that bad imagine the reality in this state?

40 years with one political party in control means hundreds of billion in fraud.. The only way to prevent a total collapse of state and local government is for the FED to declare a recession,, lower interest rates and bail the states out,, send stimulus to the people…. this would only kick the can for a short while,, maybe until the end of Trumps term but I highly doubt such action is coming.. Instead I think the FED is going to raise interest rates to curb inflation…. THere is no waiting Trump out,, they are not going to make it…
