Just to feed the "I'm not paranoid they are out to get me" I just saw a press release from WDFW that they will close all recreational scallop fisheries in order to prevent folks from eating toxic scallops. Commercial fisheries, both Treaty and NI will be possible following testing. Apparently can't test for recs.

Should lead to some interesting public comments.

Looks like ill be out of time to answer any creel. Emergency, ya know? And no you cannot have my fish head. I bought the license, paid for the fish to be raised, and the guide or charter. If you want it to study, it will cost you 20$. Anything after that, you would be harassing a sportsman. What is your opinion about the scallop situation carcass? Are you scared to share what should be said, or are you trying to stir a pot against sportsmen who already are getting the short end?

??? I am passing on information to folks. This appears to be an attempt/desire to screw the recs.

Best I can figure out is the commercials can be managed to do proper testing and recs not so. Keep in mind WDFW manages to the lowest risk. Simple way to say it is if 10 dipsticks out a thousand people harmed by failure to do something they will restrict things for the thousands to insure the 10 dipsticks are safe.

I believe it is the state that does the sampling. I think it is DOH. Not the users. I do think it would be cheaper to sample only in areas where commercial harvest is economically possible rather than everywhere scallops are because a recipe may be happy with only a few.

And you're right, the dipsticks need protecting. Or we could let Darwin take over.
