What's the earliest you have caught a spring chinook on the Columbia or the Willamett?

Typically a couple are caught off meldrum bar near the mouth of the Clackamas in Jan., while winter steelhead fishing, usually no good numbers until April - May.

My ealiest was mid-Feb. up at O.C. ... Fishing the lower Columbia before the commercial nets go in can be good in February, but it really gets going a week or so after they come out; early March or so - don't know when yet for this spring. The Willamette run is just a little earlier than the upper river Columbia runs. - RT
