I'm currently in the market to find a good dual purpose boat that allows me to pursue my love for fishing but will also please the family for recreational activities.
I've had to compromise my self interests and open up to meeting the family half way on a boat that makes all parties happy.
Any ideas or thoughts on what boats out there accomplish both ( you know... about a 60/40 boat-leaning toward the fishing side!)?
Looking at an 18 to 21 ft. boat and trying to stay in the $14,000 to $18,000 price range. Any info. would be greatly appreciated.

Any sled with a wind shield would work for you. I know North River makes a nice dual pupose jet Boat. the thing to remember is with a pump you need more horse power to get a skier out of the water then with a prop. So don't settle for a marginal power source. You could also try Thor Built boats, They build some very nice boats and might be closer to your range... Have a good one

Last summer I was looking for a boat to fill the same family/fishing parameters you listed. I bought a Northwest Jet, 19' Competitor with a 351 redline and Amer. turbine pump, and have very pleased with it. It seems to serve both functions very well. However, the dollars on even a used one may be a little above what you listed.
The advice on power in the above post is a good one and very important. The extra power will probably be more important on the family outings han the fishing if you are going to pull tubes or kneeboards.
Good luck, and I think you will find the money well spent on a boat.

Check out an Eagle E-6 Sabre. It comes in a bow rider configuration that would be perfect for a family play boat/fishing
You can see them at.

Or you can call Jetcraft of Oregon. They deal Eagle boats.
