I have been thinking about getting a rod to use mainly as a bobber rod and I was wondering if anyone has tried either the 11'6" or the 10'6" rods. The longer one is rated for 4-10 lb, and the other is 8-14 I think. Any comments would be appreciated.
P.S. I would love to get a loomis but even a blank is more than I want to spend right now.

Ihave a 10-6 and dont care for it. I dont like the taper, check that out its a little to thick at almost the top, and they break easy, there tough handling a fish. If I were you for almost the same money, Id get a certified pro by lamiglass its a great rod and its tough, or the E-lite its made from the same material loomis is, you can get that one at the barrier dam campground tackle shop. lammys best prices are at sportco.

I've got the 11 1/2 footer and I like it for light line. It's a great 6-8 pound test rod, I run 6 pound on it and use it in the summer. Haven't tried the other rod though a buddy of mine just bought one so I should hear soon if it's any good, I looked at one at the show and they seemed nice.

I've got their 10'6" spinning rod rated for 8-14 lb. test. I like mine. Fishnbear is right -- it doesn't have the most elegant taper in the world -- but I think it provides solid, workmanlike performance at a good price (I got mine at Sportco for $120). Not sure I would want to use it for standard drift fishing -- there are definitely more sensitive rods on the market -- but for float fishing I like its length and action. It casts a lightweight Thill balsa float (I've been using the Turbo Master this winter) and 1/8-oz. jig nicely, but still has the backbone to hook and land fish in strong currents. No complaints here.

I have the 10 1/2 foot St. Croix and I do like it. I bought it (and a second, I now have a matched set) mainly for float fishing with pink worms. I've also fished with a Lamiglas Bill Herzog (10 MC-T, med-light 8-12lb.) and felt it was a little soft/slow action for my taste.
I'm normally a huge Lamiglas fan (I own six if their rods), but for the money the St. Croix rods are a great option.

I use a 10.5 foot Lamiglass. It's Dave Vedder's signature rod and I really like it.

St. Croix rods are good rods, especially if it's not you #1 rod. They tend to get heavy when casting one all day...
I would look at the Lamiglas Cert. Pro or the IM6 rods by Anglers Workshop.. and the GL2 ST 1201c really isn't that much more than a St. Croix.. but I would look at the Lamiglas Cert Pro.

I just picked up the 10'6'' All Star 4-8 today. Giving it a test drive tomorrow. Will let you know how I like it, it is much lighter than the St. Croix (allthough I do love St. Croix rods) and the same price.
