I have just started to build rods. For those of you who do the same I am looking for info on places to buy blanks and components and good prices. Mail-order or internet sites that wholesale or just have great prices. What is anyone's take on the guides that Cabela's has labeled as their brand? I bought their brand of real seats and they are Pacific Bay. Any info would help. Right now looking for good blanks for Salmon/Steelhead. 81/2 -9 with a 8-12 or 8-17 rating. Any good ones out there that don't cost a arm and leg?
Thanks in advance for the help!!!
Jeff

If ya want a G Loomis blank for a heck of a price check out D and E rods out of Battleground, Wa. www.dnerods.com. The Loomis overstocks come without a warrenty but they are not seconds. I picked up an IMX STR 1082 that I built into a spinning rod, total cost was around $140 counting the handle, reel seat and guides, but that rod sells for $340 from the factory. Pretty good deal in my book.
Good luck and tight lines, Jeff

Angler's Workshop in Woodland WA. got just about every thing except Loomis. For Loomis blanks try Shoff's Tackle in Kent, WA.

I second the anglers workshop suggestion. They are great and have it all... except the excessive amount of rod building materials I bought yesterday. They'll help you out.
