Would anyone who attended the WSC meeting care to share some of the highlights?

I waited to reply to this to see if a non-WSC board member would first. My opinions might be diff. than a non-BOD's.

I thought the meeting went very well. There were 87 people in attendance to hear two informative presentations from Curt Kraemer and Pete Van Gytenbeek.

Curt provided a case study of the Skagit River as well as answering questions on the 2001 closures. He talked some on the policy of MSY and problems he saw with doing away with it. His push was to manage for greatest recreational access and he felt that MSY achieved this.

Pete talked about his desire to see statewide C & R and the plans for a September symposium designed to see if the "best available science" supports this. The Commission will likely vote on this come December of this year.

There was not much time dedicated to WSC issues but the April meeting will feature the rollout of the WSC action plan for the next year or so.
