I've been looking at the new cd series abu's they seem to be a nice reel, I've noticed they don't spin back a half turn like most spinning reels. I have a spirex now. and I like it. But the CD reel seems to be a little tougher. Is anyone using this reel, I'd love your input.

I ordered one through Cabelas a couple of days ago.Hard to argue with a two for one deal. They had to back order it about a week.hopefully it will ship quicker than an Eon.If the drag isn't smooth it's going back.
Aerofly, wasn't it you who had the Abu Eon on back order? I'd love to read a review if you have had a chance to use it.

I bought the abu-cd last august. I purchased the largest model, I believe it was the 4000. Anyways, the drag is the smoothest I've felt for the money. I've landed several chinook and a few steelhead on the reel and it performed very nicely. One thing that I don't like though is the switch from instant anti-reverse to free spool, (which is located under the rotor). I had it switch to free spool once while fighting a fish. Maybe I bumped it, who knows. I landed the fish though. Overall the reel is very nice. Also Abu has exceptional customer service.
