About 3 years ago i bought a 'glass boat from a guy in Sultan. As the story goes, the maker of my boat and a certain Mr Lavro started making boats together and then split up. My boat was made by the other guy. The mold is exactly like a lavro a friend of mine has. MY question, if anyone can help me, is, what kind of boat do i have?

Sounds like it might be an Eastside, made by a fellow named Andrea (sic) reported to be related someway to the other maker.

I've got a 16-foot Eastside, and what I've heard about its background coincides with what Beezer says -- that Ron's brother was the brand's builder. Have to differ with his opinion on the boat's heavier handling, though. Rowed a number of Lavros, and have consistently found my Eastside to be every bit as responsive, if not more so. Hardwood gunwales and bench seats do add weight to the Eastsides, but it's not readily apparent, at least not to me, when they're in the water.

The Lavro and eastside are totally different, If he says they are from the same mold, Look at the Slide Rite. Both the Slide and lavro have a rolled gunnel and the eastside has a wood gunnel, Eastsides are an older brand of boat and to my belief are no longer be produced, But now to I would like to know for sure. Curosity aroused. haha

I have owned a couple of slide rites (great glass boats) but that probably is not yours. Call or email Don Hill Boats in Springfield, Oregon, who has the slide rite molds for more info. Hope this helps, C.T.

Lavros have wood rails also. My buddy has a old drifter that has a lavro name plate and has the hardwood rails and seats.

Thanks for the info guys. I guess we have it narrowed down to one of two choices. It does not have wood gunnels, its all glass. I plan on having it out west again in aug, I'll run it by Monroe and get it nailed down. As for the handling part. my buddy with the Lavro said it handles every bit as good as his, maybe better. I sure like it. As the man says, tight lines.....
