Picked up a new rod, lamiglass cert. pro X96mct 9 1/2'casting rod. It's rated for 8-12 test. Question to all, is the new "super freak" curado worth the extra coin? About 1/2 the time I'll be throwing real light stuff with this combo. Any users advice lemme know. Plan B is to get another standard curado.

It is a sweet reel indeed. The only drawback that I can see is that it holds a little less line due to the wiffle spool.

Sauk's right it holds a little less line, but it casts light gear really sweet. If your bank fishing big water I would worry about line capacity, but for boat fishing, and smaller water you'll be fine.

'22, I wouldn't suggest spooling up with 15 on the new Curado since the old one doesn't hold a lot of 15 as it is. Probably ok in the boat where you can chase 'em, but if you use 15 on the new one for Kings off the bank then you might have to change your name to "spooled"

Duc, how's it going ol' "sol" er,son. Do you fish your new curado with the vbs off? I do with my reg. curado & just let my thumb lightly skim over the line while casting. Whats your tech. with the "super free" BRAD

Where can I find info on this new Curado? Shimano doesn't even have it listed on their website.

If you use about 20 lb. (or even 30 lb.) superthin, super strong, superbraid mainline such as green Tuf Line, you can get a whole lot more line on those Currados; I bet over 150 yards. That's what I use on mine. And then be able to fish both steelies and springers with them. Just keep the line wound on snuggly and cast them just a little harder with your thumb riding very lightly on the spool to pervent backlashes when casting light stuff. With normal or heavier things this line doesn't backlash.

chrome/22, The first couple of times casting I did not have any brakes set and had a nice mess, I think I have three set now. It casts like a dream with three of the brakes set. My advice is to step to the plate and buy one. Teds Sportcenter has them in stock. duc'Hunter
