I'm just curious, my buddy and I want to go plunk below bonneville but we have know idea where to go and how to get there. We live in Seattle. I've fished the Wind,Drano and the bench all from shore. So I know how to get to the dam. All I need is directions and maybe how to plunk this area i.e how much lead, the leader length, bait? spin and glow, dropper leader lenght etc. If you don't want to post it you can e-mail me at gore@uswest.net thanks for any info. And remember FISH ON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And the Chiefs really suck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Plunk in one of two spots: Cascade Island immediately downstrea of the dam (same place you fish for shad) or just downstream from there at what they call Hamilton Island. For the former, just go to the dam and find your way down there. For the latter, head south at the powerlines just west the dam (assuming you're on the Washington side), and then take the first left. Most guys are using spin n glos. Not monster size, but fairly big, about an inch long. Stop at the gas station/store at Bonneville; they have a fair selection. Top color now is light green. If the water is up, you need to use 6-10 ounces. If its down, you can get away with 4-6. Use a threeway swivel, with the sinker drop about a foot or 18 inches, leader about three feet. Cast it out 35-60 feet, give it a little free spool (not lots) and let it drop to the bottom. Be prepared to lose lots of lead. Some guys use scent, but you don't need it. Some guys also use cured prawns. Expect a crowd. Your rod needs to be fairly stout, especially when the water is up and you have to use more than 6 ounces. You have to release unmarked wild springers(and steelhead). I don't mind posting this because its already a mob scene down there. But they are getting fish...

I plunked for the first time just below the dam Friday after noon and hooked and landed one nice 14/15lb nat that was released.I saw
a few fish on the bank, not bad fishin and was kinda fun.Medium sized spin glow lemon lime tiger with shrimp scent, two foot dropper
to four foot leader with a 6oz. weight. The go to color seemed to be the lemon lime.I lost another saturday evening next to the bank.Good luck,
